2010:
Constellating the Soul: Untangling Our Lives
Friday/Saturday September 24-25, 2010 at Yoga North in Duluth MN
Friday/Saturday October 8-9, 2010 in Portsmouth NH at Studio 7
Workshop Objectives through real life examples and didactic explanations:
- Understand some of the systemic dynamics in families through the lens of Constellations (Including: the Knowing Field, positional nature of identity, Orders of Love, “belonging,” systemic entanglements, conscience & loyalty, and more.)
- Experience how we are bound/entangled in past events and circumstances in our lives and families in ways that limit our ability to fully embrace life, love fully, and die well.
- Directly experience our interconnectedness & interdependence as humans.
What happens in a workshop:
- 4-6 opportunities for individuals to “map” their field in relation to their soul’s deepest yearning (or intractable troubling life issue)
- Most or all participants will have at least one opportunity to stand as a representative in the field of another’s system (this is NOT role-playing!)
- Constellations will be interspersed with teaching about the systemic dynamics we are witnessing.
- Gain insights into systems, the “Knowing Field,” the Orders of Love (i.e.: what supports and what hinders the flow of love in our lives), feelings that keep us stuck and feelings that move us to grow, stories that keep us stuck in old, harmful patterns, what feeds soul, and more.
- During each map, we will clarify “what is” (truth) currently in the system and the significant influences acting on the issue holder, we will use movements, gestures, and sentences that both help sharpen truth, and later that help us move toward resolution.
- All of us will sit as witness to the unfolding of life before us.
NOTE: regardless whether you sit in witness, stand as representative, or map an issue, every heart will be touched and each attendee will walk away enriched.
From our perspective, indeed from most holistic healing modalities, health is more than the absence of pathology: health is defined as physical, mental, social, and spiritual balance. From here we can embrace our full potential as human beings.
Constellating the Soul: Untangling Our Lives looks specifically at systemic influences which impede our well-being on any level of health. Instead of focusing on symptoms, we look toward wholeness; we look to the deepest longings of our soul, knowing that will bring us to root/core issues of our lives.
CEU’S: 6+ contact hours/ units Please pre-register to apply for CEU’s (DULUTH ONLY)

_______More about the workshops
- Have you ever felt you seem stuck in a mystifying dynamic that hinders your life path? Caught in repeating cycles trying forever to “get it right?”
- Can you imagine a very small child so wanting to heal an unspoken hurt in the family as to unconsciously take on a physical, mental, or emotional burden for a suffering family member?
- How do families “absorb” traumas such as war, death of a child, suicide, etc.?
As human beings, we are all part of larger systems which influence our every choice and act. When in “order” these systems strengthen and nourish us to lead the lives we were born to live. Unfortunately most systems are out of balance, with members caught in entanglements, hidden dynamics, or “blind love” and we are no longer able to truly act and live in harmony with the world and people around us.
In “Constellating The Soul” we will map a view of our inner-most landscape, focused to the most relevant parts with the laser of our deepest longings. We can see not only where the elements stand in relation to each other, but we can also see, embodied by representatives, the influences these elements bring to bear on one another. We can step into our own map and have a physical experience of the affects of significant people, places, events, and more. Through this almost mysterious process we can “feel” the influences of the systems we were born into and live in, and of the, often blindly loving, choices of our past; we can feel the quality of the flow of Love and Life (or lack of). We can feel which actions strengthen us, and which actions weaken us. We can then begin to make movements and speak sentences of truth that guide us and the system toward resolution and healing, feeling our way into the “right” next steps. We can learn to “serve love and life.”
We will map people (living and dead), places, concepts, loyalties, and even events not consciously known about, to explore the interrelationships, the order, the blockages. As we place representatives into position to create these maps, they are able to report the positional experience at that point in the system. Move one part and the system changes and we can then learn that too. We call this the “knowing field” and allow it teach us what is in order and what is out of order, what is “better” or “worse,” for each element, to show us what serves life and love in this system. This is an embodied experience – not an idea or theory.
Through witnessing these constellations, movements, and maps we see the infinite and loving ways that systems adapt in seeking truth and order, often blindly, so that we begin to develop a deep compassion for ourselves, for our families, and for all human beings.
Additional information about the origins of this work:
ORDERS OF LOVE - Healing the Family Tree
Constellations grew out of an approach pioneered by Bert Hellinger, a German systems philosopher and family therapist. Hellinger’s approach – initially called the Orders of Love – is an approach to healing that promotes constructive action and frees us and those we love from suffering.
Hellinger demonstrated the importance of the natural forces (or “orders”) that support or constrain the healthy flow of love in relationships. Ignoring these “orders of love” leads to consequences for family members, often over many generations, consequences that can blight lives and limit our potential in the world. We respond to these often invisible forces mostly unconsciously, furthering our own and others’ suffering.
Conventional therapy tends to focus on the individual who is manifesting the greatest distress or disturbance. But such approaches tend to ignore the subtle, often hidden, dynamics that occur within family systems as a whole. Constellations, and it’s “orders of love,” works with hidden dynamics in family systems, providing felt-experience that leads to insight and often restoring order in troubled family life.
ABOUT The Facilitator, Darcy Cunningham MBA, CYT
Darcy fell in love with this approach in 1997, and has since trained extensively with Judith Hemming, one of Europe’s leading facilitators and teachers of this work. She has also studied in Europe and the US directly with founder Bert Hellinger, and with pioneers Hunter Beaumont, Gunthard Weber, Ursula Franke, and several other leading practitioner/teacher/authors of this work. Darcy also brings to the work years of Gestalt training in working with personal and organizational systems, and a life-long practice in meditation and yoga.

Potential Insights and New Perspectives:
- See how individual problems nest within a larger tapestry shaped by ancestral family traumas.
- What does it mean and feel like to fully agree to life exactly as it is given to us?
- How do girls learn to become women and boys learn to become men?
- What are the ways we get “out of order” in families, what are the consequences to our lives and our children’s lives, what are the remedies?
- What is the impact of “difficult fate” on individuals and families? (eg serving/fighting in a war, losing a mother at birth, ancestors persecuted and murdered, etc.) and how can suffering be alleviated or borne more easily?
- What impact do “family secrets” have on the members of the system now and in later generations?
- How are the effects of difficult events lived through generations? (war, famine, systemic persecutions, natural disasters, etc.)
- What does love require? What is the purpose of intimate relationships and what helps them to succeed?
- What blocks the flow of love in our lives and what supports that flow?
- What is “soul” and how do we nourish it (or bury it in darkness?)
- What truth is there to the

"Dancing
Your Family Story"
Orders
of Love Constellations Work & Escstatic Dance
Throughout this
weekend we combine two modalities for self awareness, offering
a combination for shining a light on the role of family in
shaping who we are. Constellations provides a creative,
innovative and profound way of seeing the, usually hidden,
recurring patterns and dynamics that shape us, our families,
and our relationships. Ecsatic dance takes our awareness
deeper into our bodies and our beings, presenting opportunities
for awareness, insight, and transformation.
Constellations
Study Group: a 2hr Orders of Love gathering. We will constellate work that is present,
discuss questions and teachings, and sometimes do small experiential
exercises. A chance to learn through working an
issue, representing family members or elements in others'
constellations, or witnessing and holding the work.
Deeply spiritual & healing work offers new insights into
family and love, and profound compassion for self and others.
Location:
Turning Light Cost: $25 or $20 for returning attendees

Touching
the Soul: Family Constellation Workshop
with Moving
Constellations and Judith Hemming
THE
FUNDAMENTALS OF FAMILY AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONSTELLATIONS
A workshop with Moving
Constellations and Judith Hemming
Constellations:
Providing Insight into Intractable Issues
Much of the suffering, dysfunction, and stuckness in
our family and organizational lives arises because of
unresolved problems and issues. Conventional therapeutic
and consultancy interventions tend to focus attention
on the individual who is manifesting the greatest distress
and disturbance. But such approaches tend to ignore
the subtle, often hidden, dynamics that occur within
the system as a whole. Without addressing these dynamics,
such problems cannot be solved.
The nature
of these entanglements is often out of our awareness,
and may even go back several generations in the case
of family issues, and to our predecessors in organizational
life. Constellations, originally developed by Bert Hellinger
in Germany, provides an innovative way of seeing systems,
offering a larger frame of reference that can open life-enhancing
solutions.
This work
is being applied to family, organizational and wider
social systems addressing issues such as:
- troubling thematic life issues or traumatic events
- difficult family or personal relationships
- difficult issues and relationships at work and
in community
- dilemmas about leadership, business strategy, structure
or “right” placement in a system
How
do Constellations work?
Typically the approach is used in a workshop setting
with small groups of people who want to explore deeply
felt family or organizational issues in a confidential
and creative environment. Working with phenomenological
data offered by the group and interpreted by the constellator,
a constellation provides a living map of the key systemic
elements that are impacting the issue.
Stripped of
all the detail, opinions, and stories that clutter true
understanding and decision-making, you are able to look
at issues with a freshness and objectivity, as if for
the first time. You are able to see the particular image
you carry of how things are presently in the world of
work or the family, and you are able to test a better
alignment of elements in the system enabling you to
see new truths and opportunities.
“My
experience of Constellations illuminated some of these
hidden forces, like shining a torch into a dark corner
and seeing the piece of the jigsaw you've been missing.
It helped me understand why some problems seemed intractable
and how to look at them differently so they might be
resolved."

Fundamentals
3 Day Program
We have pooled our experience and designed a unique
learning event that is a first of its kind in the US.
It is for a range of people who are working with innovation
and change, from the personal, to business, education,
government, and community. It provides an overview of
the essential aspects of Constellations in a way that
will profoundly change your way of looking at the world,
showing you a different way of being and working with
the present.
You will
work with real issues brought by members of the group,
witnessing
and participating in a mix of constellations and using
exercises, explanation, and short lectures to understand
the underpinning processes of the approach.
The work
will have a powerful impact on you personally and professionally
- whether you are a leader, manager, change agent, or
therapist, whether your focus is on one person, a family,
a team, a whole company, or other larger system.
Specifically,
you will learn about
- Seeing systems - literally and viscerally
- Work with a systemic eye - find leverage points
for most impact
- The forces that shape systems
- Universal and organizational ‘orders’
- An overview of the constellating process
- Name hidden realities
- Work with energy
- Its potential use in your professional life
- Constellations in a one to one context
- - Integrating the insights into change programs
At the end
of these three days you will have a fundamental shift
in your ways of thinking about individuals, families,
and organizations and how they can flourish at a deeper
level.
The
workshops are led by Judith Hemming, Britain’s
leading constellator, and assisted by Andy Stuck, PH.D,
LISW, LLC (“Stuck Systems Inc”) and Darcy
Cunningham, MBA (“Turning Light Constellations”)
both US constellators. Judith, a gestalt therapist,
has been leading workshops, and teaching and developing
constellation work in Britain, Europe, Australia and
the US for over 10 years. With the nowherefoundation
of the UK, she is pioneering the application of this
work to professional relationships and organizational
systems. Andy and Darcy have trained with Judith, Bert
Hellinger and others and are now practicing this work
in the US.

“In over 25 years in the business world, as
an advisor to Executive teams, and in the management
of our own practice, I have progressively understood
that it is the behavior and interplay of management
teams that determines the tone and direction of the
enterprise. These behaviors are often a manifestation
of underlying assumptions, fears, baggage, taboos and
unresolved issues held by individual members or the
team system as a whole. Constellations brings these
issues to the surface constructively and helps in their
resolution-creating a shared awareness which is the
basis for higher performance."
